Saturday October 22 vs. The Norwalk Admirals

Home > 2016-2017 Elmira Jackals Hockey > 2016 REGULAR SEASON GAMEDAY GALLERIES > Saturday October 22 vs. The Norwalk Admirals
From Saturday Night's Elmira Jackals 2-0 loss.
Shot the first 2 periods using only the Heavy Artillery 300mm f/2.8 on the Monopod, to capture some nice, tight Individual Player Shots. In spite of the loss, still got some great images in the can for this years action file archives.

ELMIRA, NY - October 22, 2016 - Eetu Laurikainen made 24 saves and the Norfolk Admirals (1-4-0-0) broke a scoreless tie midway through the third period to defeat the Elmira Jackals (1-2-0-0), 2-0, Saturday night at First Arena. Andy Iles stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced in the loss for the Jackals.

In the second of back-to-back games between the teams, the goalies were the stars of the show throughout the night, making routine and difficult saves look easy through the first two periods, as the game went into the third period deadlocked at 0-0. The Jackals had one power-play chance in the second period, but they didn't convert on it.

The stalemate continued into the third period, until the Admirals got a bounce to take a 1-0 lead at 7:28. With Casey Thrush in the penalty box for tripping, the Admirals power play converted for the first time this season. Domenic Alberga took the puck at the bottom of the right circle and fired one towards the front. The puck bounced off of Jackals defenseman Cole Martin and got past Iles for the game's first goal.

The Jackals pulled Iles for an extra attacker with about 90 seconds to go in regulation, but Laurikainen stopped several chances to hold the lead. Maxime St. Cyr put the game away with an empty-net goal at 19:51 to make the final score 2-0.
